Dua when on Clamity

Dua’s When Calamity, disaster, problem Strikes

A calamity could be anything from a death of a dear one or a natural disaster coming our way. Anything that could bring some kind of terrible loss, a severe affliction, tragedy, a long lasting disaster or some kind of distress. Hurricanes, floods, strong winds, tornadoes, deaths, heart broken, sickness, divorce.. are just a part of a calamity.
“War.  Famine.  Suffering.  Not a day goes by that the evening news does not report horrific stories of humanity in despair, and of worldwide misery.  On a more personal level, many of us have been stricken with grief and depression in our day to day lives.  A loved one passes away.  A financial downturn.  A cheating spouse. ” - http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/1803/viewall/
So what should we do when a calamity hits us ?
Our Prophet Muhammed (Allah have mercy on him) said:
“The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah, than the weak believer and there is goodness in both.”
Hence, we should try to strive for that which will benefit you, seek help from Allah and do not despair. And if in this a mishap should befall on you then we shouldn’t despair, or curse our faith and think to ourselves  “If only I had acted…such and such would have happened.”
Rather, we should say:
“Allah has decreed and what He wills, He does.”
…for verily (the word) ‘IF’ lets in the work of the devil.
Dua when struck with a calamity or when unable to do something
قَدَّرَ اللهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ
qaddar-allaahu wa maa shaa’a fa‛al
“Allah has decreed and what He wills, He does.”
innaa lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji‛oon, allaahumma ajurnee fee muṣeebatee, wakhluf lee khayran minhaa
“To Allah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allah, recompense me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.”
*Whoever says this supplication Allah will replace it for him with something better (as mentioned by the messenger of Allah)
